Drop In Any Payroll Document — We'll Build the Salary Table for You
Sep 2, 2026
Building the salary table used to mean waiting for a clean spreadsheet from the client — and reformatting it by hand when it wasn't clean. Not anymore. This release lets you throw whatever payroll paperwork you have at SREDr and get a finished table back, plus a fix for a real pain point on multi-province teams.
🪄 Upload literally anything payroll-shaped
Spreadsheets, T4 slips, pay stub PDFs, even a photo of a pay stub someone snapped on their phone — drag them all into the new import dialog at once, and SREDr reads every one of them.
For each file, it pulls out:
- Name — matched and merged across files, so a T4 and three pay stubs for the same person become one row, not four
- Annual salary — calculated from whatever the document actually shows (hourly rate × hours, monthly gross × 12, semi-monthly, YTD-to-date, or a stated annual figure), with the math shown so you can check it
- Pay type — salaried or hourly
- Work location — the province on the slip, when it's there
Mix and match freely: a CSV roster for most of the team, a couple of stray T4s for contractors who joined mid-year, and a phone photo of a pay stub that didn't make it into either. One upload, one pass, one updated table. The files themselves are not stored — only the names, salaries, and work locations we extract.
No guesswork left behind
Every import comes back with reconciliation notes right next to each person — what file it came from, and exactly how the salary was derived (for example, "$45.00/hr × 2,080 h = $93,600"). If a file can't be read, or a number looks uncertain, you'll see it called out instead of silently guessing. Nothing gets buried.
📍 Work location now lives on the employee, not the claim
Provincial SR&ED credit rates depend on where the work actually happened — and increasingly, that's not the same province for everyone on a claim. Remote hires, contractors in another region, a head office in one province and staff scattered across three others.
Work location used to be a single setting for the whole claim. Now it's a per-employee field:
- Set it explicitly per person, or leave it blank to inherit the claim's default — most people usually do
- Change it in bulk for a group of selected employees in one click
- Bring it straight from an upload — when a T4 or pay stub shows a province, it's applied automatically
This means a claim with staff in Ontario, Alberta, and Quebec now calculates each person's credit against their province, not a single default for everyone.
Where to look
- Open a claim's Financials tab (or an account's Employees page for account-wide staff) and click Import Files.
- Drag in T4s, pay stubs, photos, or a spreadsheet — any combination, any order.
- Review the reconciliation notes, then adjust anyone's Work Location individually or in bulk right from the table.
